Austin BELL Camp Day 1

Today was the first day of BELL camp. Students got to know each other, and learned the reason for the BELL Camp. Students and counselors will pay attention to the positive accomplishments of each camper, and will present these moments to the group. Students learned about Louis Braille, and the group decided to throw a birthday party for the 202nd year of the existence of Braille. In Reading students learned and read about Louis Braille. Writing focused on Brailing names on an accessible Birthday card. In Nonvisual class, students wrapped a gift for the party. In extracurricular students examined beautiful things made with Braille; books, art, coins, and games! In Morning BELL Ringers, many positive experiences were shared to the group. One student brailed their name for the first time, and others learned something knew about Braille.
The lunch was a sandwich, assorted fruits, and snacks. Each student was presented their own lunch box with their name Brailed on it. The Birthday party began after lunch, where we played birthday games, exammend the Braille Birthday cards, and opened gifts. Everyone got a T-Shirt with a positive Blind Quote on it!
Our Special Guest Reader was Juliana, a nice woman who is an Acupuncturist by trade, and a Braille reader. The Group Activity involved learning about the concept of Goal Ball-an accessible blind sport. We will always end with Journal writing on the Braille writers. Tomorrow’s tease is: Blind Super Hero!

Go to day 2.
