Austin BELL Camp Day 3

Today was the third day of BELL camp. In Blindness Lesson, Students got to learn about a newspaper by phone program called NFB Newsline. Each student will be registered so that they can get the news any time they want. In Reading students worked with Braille cards. Writing focused on experimenting with the Braille writer functions; students wrote sentences and typed words. In Nonvisual class, students learned to identify coins by feel. In extracurricular students examined different types of adaptive Math and Science tools. In Morning BELL Ringers, many positive experiences were shared to the group. One student worked with a talking tape measure, and another was super excited about the different ways one can recognize coins.
The lunch was hot dogs made by Olivia the BELL Camp Lunch coordinator. For recess students had a great time jamming with Mrs. Laura the BELL Camp Music Teacher. They got to listen to a violin and do some dancing. Our Special Guest Reader was Steve a nice gentleman who is a lawyer by trade, and a Braille reader. The Group Activity was Beach ball Braille, a fun game similar to hot-potato, that involves a ball with Braille all over it. We will always end with Journal writing on the Braille writers. Tomorrow’s tease is: go team go!

Go to day 4.
